Waldegrave Gas Project

Located in Queensland's gas heartland

Located 450 km west of Brisbane in the Surat Basin, the Waldegrave project is a gas, oil and condensate field in which PZE holds 100% beneficial interests. The project is situated on the Roma shelf, widely regarded as one of Australia’s most prolific gas-producing areas.

Waldegrave’s PL permit area is 698 km2 and is within 20 km of the Wallumbilla hub pipeline connection.

Material Certified Resources

Bringing to market

  • Agreements are in place for processing and transport to market of the gas and liquids through the nearby Armour Energy Kincora Plant.
  • PZE is re-establishing gas delivery from existing wells for sale into the East Coast market.
  • PZE is also assessing appraisal and exploration of near field opportunities.

Waldegrave multi-play geology structure

The historic key reservoir units within the Waldegrave assets are Precipice Sandstone (Early Jurassic) and Moolayember Formation (Mid Triassic). Both reservoir units have produced gas, oil and condensate within the asset.

Additional reservoir units are Late Permian Tinowon and Rewan sandstones which have been produced in Myall Creek to the south, and the Walloon Coal Measures which are currently being produced by several operators, including Santos, to the immediate north.

Tinowon and Rewan

The resource evaluation completed in 2022 found favourable conditions for the presence of potentially gas productive Tinowon and Rewan Formation reservoirs in the eastern area of the Project, in PL89.

PZE intends to drill a new well to explore the potential conventional gas in Tinowon and the CSG opportunity below.

Coal Seam Gas Opportunity

Coal Seams from the Jurassic Walloon Coals are the primary source of Coal Seam Gas (CSG) resources within the Surat Basin in Queensland.

The Walloon Coals exist throughout the Waldegrave project. The main potential resources are located within the eastern blocks, including PL320, 321 and north of PL89 at around 1,000m depth.

Recent studies by PZE have shown significant resource potential for CSG in the permits located close to the Wallumbilla hub.

PZE plans to test the targets in the Walloon coals in tandem with the planned drilling of the  Tinowon/Rewan opportunity in PL89.
